Over the course of nearly two decades, a federally recognized tribe sought payment for the federal government’s mismanagement of tribal assets, but continually hit roadblocks. Mindset engaged the tribe and its legal counsel and helped them navigate the procedural maze by providing them an audience with key administration decision-makers, and leveraging strong connections with their federal delegation in both the House and the Senate.

This case had been stagnant for more than two decades—through three presidential administrations with three Interior Secretaries and four Attorneys General—meaning we effectively had to build momentum for our client from scratch.

The approach.

We took the time to learn the tribe’s history and the roadblocks they faced at both federal agencies. Through this process, we provided the federal delegation members in the House and the Senate the tools they needed to work with both federal agencies involved and reach a swift settlement for the tribe.
